auto verkopen in israel

Postby savas » Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:52 am

hoi hoi,

Motor Vehicle Exemption (for tourists)

1. Import of motor vehicle

You are entitled to import one motor vehicle within 3 months of your entry for your own use, on condition that you will export it as you leave the country no later than within 6 months after the initial release.

2. You must present the necessary documents:

- A foreign driver's license valid in Israel.

- Insurance certificate.

- Car registration in your name or your spouse's.

- A valid Visa for stay in Israel.

- A valid passport.

- A tourist who is a journalist - valid journalist certificate.

You may use the vehicle up to 6 months pending on a valid Visa for stay in Israel.

Upon entrance no taxes would be charged for the vehicle.

In special cases - the customs authorities reserve the right to demand that a bank guarantee at the total sum of due taxes would be deposited at a local bank.

If the vehicle is a right-hand drive - you will not be able to import it to Israel at all.

3. Extending the stay of the vehicle

An extension of the vehicle's stay would be granted after you present all the listed documents (see paragraph 1).

The vehicle's stay may be extended up to 1 year from the initial release pending on the following criterias:

a. As the first 6 months are about to end, you should approach the nearest customs house to verify whether it would be possible to extend your vehicle's stay.

b. After the first 6 months are over, the customs clerk would check whether the vehicle is no more than 4 years old and whether it complies with the Ministry of Transportation's regulations. If so you would be requested to deposit a bank guarantee at the sum of total due taxes or a cash deposit.

c. In case the vehicle does not meet the above mentioned criteria you would have to export the vehicle after the first 6 months are over.

4. Leaving the vehicle in Israel within the exemption period

If you leave the country within your exemption period - you may do so, as long as you notify the nearest customs house authorities the where about of the vehicle during your absence.

In any case the exemption period starts at the initial release date.

5. Leaving the vehicle in Israel after the exemption period.

• The maximum exemption period is 1 year from the first vehicle's entry.

• If you wish to extend the stay of the vehicle longer - you may pay the full due taxes pending on the following conditions:

a. The vehicle is not a right-hand drive.

b. The vehicle meets the Ministry of Transportation’s regulaitons.

c. The vehicle is no more than 4 years old.

• In case the taxes are not payed and/or the vehicle would not be exported the customs authorities may actualize the bank guarantee/deposit .

6. Purchase of a vehicle in Israel

In case you did not import a motor vehicle you are entitled to purchase a motor vehicle at a bonded warehouse in Israel, at the same conditions as mentioned above.

In this case you would be required to deposit a bank guarantee immediately upon purchase.

Please note that as of December 2003 the rights to purchase a car for new immigrants will be rescinded. Since this may impact on the regulations for non-residents please contact your local customs office.

7. Exemption on a motor vehicle for the second time.

In case you would like to import a motor vehicle for the second time, you may do so only if both you and the motor vehicle stay out of Israel for a period of at least 3 months continuously.

8. Special visa's holders

Tourists who hold special Visa's - see below - will not be obligated to deposit
A bank guarantee, but a formal written commitment as listed below:

a. A tourist with an A/2 visa would be required to issue a formal commitment of the academic establishment where he is studying that states the establishment would pay the due taxes in case the vehicle would not be exported.
In case the academic institution cannot supply such a written commitment the tourist would have to deposit a bank guarantee.

b. A tourist with an A/3 visa (religious personnel) would be required to issue a formal written commitment by the religious establishment where he serves, in which this establishment states it would pay the due taxes for this vehicle in case the vehicle is not exported, or the due taxes are not paid.
If the establishment cannot supply this formal commitment - the tourist will have to get a bank guarantee at the sum of the due taxes.

c. A tourist holding a journalist certificate (or a foreign photographer) by the governmental journalism chambers, would also be required to issue a formal written commitment by the journalism chambers stating they would pay all due taxes in case the vehicle would not be exported or the taxes would not be paid by the tourist.

In case the journalist has no permanent employer - he would have to issue a bank guarantee.
